    Andrew & Sara

Andrew and Sara’s wedding was held in the tiny town of Bethungra where they run The Shirley Hotel B&B. They’ve put a lot of work into this place and it would have been a no brainer to hold their wedding there in the superb grounds. Sara’s immaculate attention to detail spanned every aspect of this wedding which meant that the day itself was reserved for partying – which they did, with great gusto!

Thank you for having me, Andrew and Sara, you built some beautiful memories on this day that I am glad to have witnessed!

    Brett & Karissa

Brett and Karissa’s wedding was a vibrant and lively affair. The venue of choice was St Clements Monastery in Galong which is a perfect venue for a wedding. I love the idea of bringing guests away from their home town to continue the party the next day, everyone loves an excuse to party on, don’t they!?

St Clements hosted superbly. I was incredibly impressed with their facilities, the setting and the food! Quite amazing. I hope to see them host many more weddings (along with the retreats which are often open to the public and I think much needed in this day and age. Go to their website and check out what’s happening there.)

I was pretty amazed by Karissa’s ability to get everyone on task and organised, but as the co-owner (with sister, Nicola) behind Scissor Sisters in Young, NSW you’d expect nothing less than a powerhouse, and that’s what she is!

Congratulations, Brett and Karissa, it was a treat to see you married surrounded by such a loving family and community.

    John and Jocelyn

I somehow got myself all the way to Noosa for this wedding. There was no hesitation though, I knew I wanted to shoot for these two, they were both so relaxed and accommodating, giving me licence to do my thing, which I always love!

On the day they were equally relaxed, which was great for me as I bumbled around Noosa’s busy streets attempting to find a vacant carpark. When I finally arrived at Jocelyn’s space she casually shooed me away to photograph rings with John and grab some food and a coffee, and I happily obliged, if there is an Anti-Bridezilla, she was it, luckily for me!

Thanks, John & Joscelyn, for having me photograph your wedding. I consider myself privileged to have made the adventure up there to witness a snippet of your lives together, your beautiful, kind, conscientious, generous spirits have made a great impression on me.

They have kindly allowed me to share just a few of their photos, and so here are a few from the day and from our beach photoshoot (a nice change to have a beach as a backdrop!).

  • Dan & Emily

    Dan & Emily

I was so honoured to be asked to take my beautiful friend’s wedding photos last month and, frankly, it was so much fun! Dan and Emily are a beautiful couple and embraced all their guests with love. I so enjoy going to weddings where the tiniest needs have been thought of and met, and their wedding was like that. It was as much a celebration of all the people in their lives as well as their own love for eachother – and the world needs more of that, doesn’t it!

We also dived into Emily’s history during her photoshoot, going to back to her childhood home, her grandparent’s property and an old shearing shed where she used to play with her brothers. It’s wonderful to be invited into someone’s personal world as a photographer, and I hope the photos we took can aid in her memory keeping and sharing with her own family in the future.

Thanks for having me guys, it was a treat to photograph you and hang out with you on your beautiful wedding day.

  • Lisa & Fred

    Lisa & Fred

When I think of Lisa and Fred’s wedding I think of the detail. Lisa put so much of herself into her wedding through each decoration, the flowers (one of my favourites, hydrangeas, simply done but packed with meaning), heartfelt messages, the care she exhibited to her guests such as providing individual fans and an enormous lolly table, I mean, who doesn’t need lollies at a wedding!

I continually find myself re-evaluating wedding photography, the industry just seems so overdone, so pompous sometimes, but the industry is not the individual, and a wedding is a wonderful thing. It is a celebration, the kind of celebration we in the West often forgo in our busy lives. Yes, it is important to celebrate LOVE (love is one of the best things we have got going down here!), it is equally important to invest some time and money into showing other people how much we care about them and it is not an extravagance to indulge each other on these occasions. Okay, often it is an extravagance, but it should be! That’s the point. We should spoil each other, we should go out of our way to get creative with these events, we should throw a party for other people, and that’s the vibe I got from this wedding. Love was indulged in and it came through in the detail, in each hug and touch, each paper pom-pom, each lolly bag. It made me love weddings yet again.

Thanks, Lisa and Fred for letting me be a part of your big day. I won’t forget it! xx

  • Luke & Kersti #1

    Luke & Kersti #1

It’s taken me a little while to post these. This day I was really thrilled and also super disappointed. You’ll see why.

We were invited to Henry’s past flatmate’s engagement party. We hadn’t met Kersti, but by all accounts she was pretty swell so we were really glad to be going. The band was going to play and they all had to get well before 6.30pm or something. Henry was working that day and I arrived with the kids to pick him up at 4.30pm…but the gig dragged on…and on. This is fairly typical for the entertainment industry.

Henry’s band mate called him to hassle him about getting there…uuh, not gonna happen, sorry. I can’t remember what time we were finally on the road but at about 6.30pm we got a text: “It’s a surprise wedding! Hurry!” Or something along those lines. Henry and I spent the next ten minutes cursing the gods of late gigs and disorganisation until we arrived at one of the most amazing houses we’ve ever been in, built from scratch many years ago, in the hills around Canberra, which are a mostly undiscovered treasure.

Despite the fact that we missed the wedding! (Mega disappointment) we partied on and were the last to leave. It kind of blew my mind, the number of people there who I hadn’t seen for too, too long. I madly tried to catch up with everyone and meanwhile took a few snaps. I also dragged bride and groom aside and took some photos on the jetty. (Thanks for obliging me you guys!)

Super photogenic people + beautiful setting, you can’t really go wrong, can you?

Stay tuned because I’ll be doing a photoshoot with these guys soon. I can’t wait!
