    Dan & Emily

I’m more than excited to be photographing Dan & Emily’s farm wedding later this year in Young, NSW. They are naturals in front of the camera as I discovered, and it was great to take some engagement photos of them last week. I can’t recommend engagement photos highly enough, it really helps you both to relax in front of the camera and helps me to see how you photograph, everyone is different and putting people in front of a lens can lead to surprising results sometimes. If I can understand how you and the camera gel then I can get the best results from your wedding photos. I had nothing to worry about with these guys, however, perfectly at home and beautifully photogenic they worked that camera! I was so glad to shoot here too, I’ve been wanting to use this palette of natural, muted shades for a long time and with the perfect spot, the perfect couple and the perfect opportunity I love how it all came together!

  • Mia Dyson

    Mia Dyson

In Young, where I live, there is this super little cafe which has a long reach and a sharp ear. Art of Espresso not only makes THE best coffee I’ve ever tasted, but also has it’s ear to the ground when it comes to independent music in Australia. Every country town needs a cafe/venue like this! Adrian manages to find and bring all sorts of sensational singer-songwriters to this small town which is just embracing each act with gusto! Mia Dyson and Young hit. it. off. In fact, though I’m late posting, Mia herself has recently been ‘discovered’ by Pink in California and I hope that she is receiving some well-deserved publicity, so maybe this timing is good? She is just magic. After her show myself and the guys from The Burley Griffin (my hubby’s band) have been listening to her music almost non-stop. If you haven’t seen her or heard of her, go and find out what you’ve been missing!

    Location Scouting with Lisa Scope

Lisa Scope, a working Film Location Manager, was brought out to the Riverina district (where I happen to be living currently) by the Riverina Arts Council. At the last minute I was able to participate and I’m glad I did, even though my main motivation might have been to meet other creatives working with photography/film in the area, the bonus of learning to think like a location scout and meet a working professional in the industry was also illuminating! Having never thought of the prospect of this career, there is something in it that appeals to me. I quite like driving for one, I love buildings and architecture (such things were the subject of passionate debate growing up, with a Finnish artist/carpenter as a father it was hard not to talk about craftsmanship around the dinner table) and having the opportunity to stickybeak into all sorts of divine dwellings would be a dream! Of course there are others aspects to being a Film Location Manager, but on this day we were mostly being trained to see things from a film-makers point of view rather than a photographer’s point of view. It’s all about information folks, visual information that allows you to ‘see’ the location in detail. This equals a lot of photos. I won’t show you all 300 I took on the day, but here are a few of the landscape and architecture around Harden and Cootamundra. I’ve often driven through Harden wishing I could take the time to stop and capture some of the incredible Art Deco architecture in the area, now I finally have! (Also, very little editing as it’s not about photographic artistry, rather about coverage!)
